The kitchen is one of the most commonly used rooms in our homes, for many people it is not only a place for food preparation but an area many people socialise and do other tasks such as clothes washing in. It seems there are more and more appliances and gadgets in our kitchens these days that are in regular use that we may run out of space or have a very cramped kitchen if our kitchen isn’t very big.
Fortunately there are ways to save space as well as make your kitchen look nicer and more uniform. Built in appliances are able to be hidden away under work surfaces or behind cupboard doors to make your kitchen look nicer with them hidden away. Lots of people are now getting newly designed kitchens fitted in their homes and having your washing machine or refrigerator not built in can look out of place and spoil any appearance you’re trying to achieve.
Another benefit with regards to these two appliances in particular is that they can sometimes produce quite a lot of noise, especially washing machines when they are in mid-cycle. Having these appliances hidden behind cupboards can help dampen the sound which means you can have these appliances running during times you may have avoided doing so in the past such as when you have guests round.
There are many different types of kitchen appliances that can be hidden away from sight in your kitchen as well as built in fridges and washing machines another common feature in most modern kitchens is the dishwasher. The dishwasher used to be seen as a luxury appliance but energy experts have found that using a fully loaded dishwasher is more energy efficient than washing your dishes by hand, repeatedly using hot water for many separate washes.
Another popular built in appliance is the cooker, a lot of people getting new kitchens fitted opt for more impressive dual oven set ups or some other type of cooker such as multiple gas burners similar to a restaurant’s cooker. Most cookers can be built under the work tops and can have the gas or electric hobs built into the top of the work tops too. A lot of cookers now have hoods that can help clear the steam and smells making cooking a little easier and these again can be built into cupboards above your worktops to create a more uniform kitchen.
