Tips for Kitchen Appliance Maintenance

If you are the type of person who finds pleasure in preparing food, it is usually a given that you have a number of cooking equipment at home. Now, owning quality appliances is and always will be a good thing, but you should do more than just using them. Maintenance should be something that you must regularly do too. Here are some things that you should keep in mind to prolong their working life.

  • Clean up your appliances regularly and always refer to the user guide for instructions.
  • As much as possible, avoid overusing your electronic cooking devices.
  • Protect their circuitry by utilising a surge suppressor.
  • Use mild cleaners; avoid using harsh detergents at all cost.
  • Avoid using steel wool scouring pads to clean your autoclave.
  • Never use plastic and be careful with the use of glass in your microwave oven.
  • Examine your fridge and freezer thermostats often to make sure they are at the right temperatures.
  • Inspect gaskets on pressure cookers and oven doors regularly.
  • Check cords, joints and edges often for any excess wear and tear.
  • Replace worn parts, especially rusty ones, immediately.
  • If in need of any large repairs, go to a professional service shop.
  • Store equipment properly, preferably in a clean, dry place.
