Keeping Food Safe and Fresh
Keeping your eatable items in good condition depends on how you store them. If you plan want food to stay fresh for days, or even weeks, it is important that you keep them free from contamination. To help you out on the proper way to keep your meat and vegetables, guidelines are supplied below.
- Keeping leftovers in a reliable packaging will make it last longer than those placed in unsealed containers. Zip-top plastic bags, foil and plastic wraps are ideal containers to keep away moisture and vapour.
- The advisable temperature for storing meat is between 34 and 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Beef or pork with high moisture contents when frozen lower than the recommended number will lose their fibres. Anything that is stored above the suggested temperature, on the other hand, will be spoiled more quickly. Always check the refrigerator if the coldness right for your meat and vegetables.
- Leftover from last night's dinner have to be eaten within a few days. To preserve them better, they should be properly frozen.
- Keep the refrigerator clean as much as possible. Spills must be taken care of immediately. Weekly checkups of perishable foods inside should also be done. Those that can no longer be eaten should be thrown away. Cooked leftover are still safe for consumption until four days.
- Open a box of baking soda inside the refrigerator to keep away the bad smell. Cleansers, abrasives and cleaning agents should not be used to avoid food stuff from smelling like chemicals.
