A Closer Look at Different Types of Waffle Iron

Anyone who is a fan of pancakes and waffles knows the pleasure of being able to make them at home. Although frozen waffles are popular, nothing beats the taste of homemade waffles. Waffle irons are one of the best selling small kitchen appliances of all time and they keep getting more advanced as the years go by. Modern waffle irons are known to do more than make waffles and with accessories and attachments, can be used for numerous different cooking tasks.

There are a couple of aspects that need to be considered when looking for a high quality waffle iron. Size, brand and features are just some things to think about, as well as the price. For the most part, waffle irons with the top features and accessories are still quite affordable. The more complex irons will often be top of the line irons that can do tasks beyond making waffles.

Some waffle irons will make four large waffles at one time. This can be found in the Belgium waffle or regular waffle patterns. There are also models that make one or two waffles and these types are the most commonly used. To save time making breakfast for many people, the larger waffle iron will be well worth the money.

Waffle irons are also known to toast and heat sandwiches and other foods wrapped in bread like crust. Some irons have different plates that do different things. A type that is growing in popularity is the iron that makes Panini sandwiches that can be made from a variety of meats, vegetables and seasonings. The iron closes down on the sandwich and pinches the edges together, creating a sandwich pocket that is easy and enjoyable to eat.

There are a couple of features that just about all types and brands of waffle irons come equipped with. Most of them have a ready light that will indicate when the iron plates are hot and ready to use. The plates are often coated with a non stick coating that makes it easy to remove the waffles when they are finished. The non stick surface also allows easy cleaning, often by using a clean cloth with soap and water.

Other considerations when purchasing a waffle iron is the size and shape of the pattern on the plates. Some will make square waffles and some create round waffles. They can either make one at a time or up to four at a time. The price will reflect the number of features and extra attachments that can be used. The smaller ones tend to be a bit basic but are well worth the money.

To find a variety of waffle irons, visit local retailers and appliance stores. There are also a number of websites that sell small appliances such as waffle irons and other useful accessories. Prices will vary depending on size, make and model of the iron. A little money can be saved by purchasing a used or refurbished waffle iron. They are built to last and will bring years of delicious waffles.
